‘Museum of the Moon’ Lands At Alderley Park as SciTech Extravaganza Returns for Second Year
Museum of the Moon, the touring six-metre moon replica by UK artist Luke Jerram, is landing at Alderley Park from the 1st September 2025. Its arrival invites guests to see the extraordinary artwork displayed at Alderley Park’s Glasshouse in the stunning 400-acre parkland. The Museum of the Moon will be free to view and observe throughout the month and the end of the installation will be celebrated with the hugely successful family science and tech event, SciTech Extravaganza returning for its second year on 20th September 2025.
Showcasing a fusion of lunar imagery, moonlight and surround sound composition from the award-winning composer Dan Jones, Museum of the Moon offers a unique and ever-evolving viewer experience, with interpretations of the artwork shifting depending on where it is presented. Visitors looking to make the most of its arrival at Alderley Park are invited to see it showcased as part of the trailblazing SciTech Extravaganza event on the 20th September, designed to inspire young minds, spark curiosity and encourage engagement with STEM-related learning.
The day will see the artwork featured alongside a whole host of activities and entertainment, including three ‘Super Cells’ shows by the Royal Institute of Science, designed for three different age ranges: 4–7, 7–11, and 11–14. There will also be a balloon scientist, hosting discussions on elasticity, expansion, aerodynamics, pressure, static electricity and many other topics through balloon art, crumble coding sessions by Skills Supply, alongside face painting, DJ sets and a wide range of pop-up food and drink stalls to enjoy.
It’s all taking place in Glasshouse, the 150,000 sq ft innovation hub home to companies in tech, software and app development, AI, fintech, and gaming, making it the perfect day out for curious minds and aspiring scientists of all ages.
Museum of the Moon will also be available to view in Alderley Park for FREE between 1st -19th September 2025, giving everyone a chance to experience the breathtaking installation and explore the moon like never before, suspended in the heart of Cheshire’s innovation campus, home to a hub of world leading science and tech.
Dr Kath Mackay, Chief Scientific Officer for Bruntwood SciTech said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming the extraordinary Museum of the Moon to Alderley Park. The installation has captured the attention and imaginations of visitors across the globe, so to now have it displayed in our beautiful parkland is incredible. And what better way to celebrate its time with us than with the return of SciTech Extravaganza. It’s a unique opportunity to showcase the world of science and technology at its very best, and nurture curiosity and innovation in STEM related fields. We look forward to welcoming families back for another unforgettable day, and to help inspire a new generation of scientists, mathematicians and engineers.”
