Shining lights of Northern life sciences shortlisted for Bionow Awards
The leading scientists and pioneering entrepreneurs driving the growth of the North of England’s £11bn life science sector have been recognised with the announcement of the shortlist for this year’s Bionow Awards.
Organised by Bionow, a not-for-profit membership organisation that supports the life sciences sector across the North, the awards will be announced on 30 November at the Mere Resort in Cheshire.
In the North of England the life sector embodies some 1,100 science and healthcare companies and supports around 200,000 jobs. The accolade for ‘Outstanding Contribution’ to the sector will be announced at the event and is the only category without a shortlist.
Geoff Davison, chief executive of Bionow, said: “This year’s awards demonstrates once again how the Northern life sciences are continuing to flourish. We have a breadth of business, academic excellence, depth of expertise and investment in specialist infrastructure to rival anything that any other UK region can offer. The Bionow Awards recognise its successes and achievements and we look forward to celebrating on the night.”

Bionow, the voice of the life sciences sector in the North, is playing a key role in supporting the delivering the new life sciences strategy by supporting collaboration among the clusters and networks in the North.
Its membership includes start-ups and spin-outs as well as well-established businesses. The services it offers to firms include dedicated business support programmes, shared procurement schemes and recruitment and training support.
